History

Since 2018, UTBIS Puebla has been leader of multiple international editions of English Language Teaching Conferences. Teaching to the Future brought a new perspective for ELT educators in the state of Puebla to enhance their teaching strategies at a higher education level, taking into account the diverse realities of state technological and polytechnic universities as well as teacher training colleges. Teaching to the Future allowed for a first time event within public universities to bring ELT educators together, all the while being guided by our strong partnership with RELO from the US Embassy and our English Fellow, Sara Hendricks.

2019 introduced us to From Teaching English to Teaching in English, in which state ELT educators and those from the Technological and Polytechnic Universities and BIS Universities gathered in Ciudad Modelo to actively participate in workshops, conferences and plenaries regarding bilingual educational contexts in bachelor and associate degrees of various academic areas. Such event was organized in collaboration with professionals from RELO and Peace Corps Mexico.

2020 faced a complex panorama in education and the future of it under a pandemic realm. Challenges of a New Teaching brought worldwide educators together to reflect and share the different experiences being tackled in ELT in higher education and the techniques each institution and professionals were constructing. Today, after 2 years of pandemic and having reflected on the much needed new realities in education, Rebuilding Education through Sustainability aims to open a space in which national and international Educational Professionals share their best practices, methods and techniques implanted within their educational environments to bring a quality and sustainable education by taking into account Educators’ and Student’ socio-emotional support.
